What is Gadget insurance?
Gadget Insurance is a cost effective way to insure those everyday gadgets and electronic
equipment that we never leave the house without! Many of us do not realise the value
of the everyday items carried in our briefcase / handbag. It’s only when something
goes wrong and we have to replace these products that we understand the true value,
both personally and financially of our every day gadgets.
What is covered under the policy?
- Theft
- Accidental damage
- Liquid damage
- Mechanical breakdown (outisde of manufacturer's warranty)
- Loss cover (optional for an extra £1 a month- not available on iPads and laptops)
- Worldwide cover as standard
- Complimentary

- For mobiles- unauthorised calls cover up to £100
What items does Protect your bubble Gadget insurance cover?
We offer insurance on Mobile phones, Laptops, iPhones, iPads, iPods/MP3 players,
Game consoles, Handheld Games consoles, Satelite Navigation systems, Cameras and
Camera lenses, Camcorders, Bluetooth headsets, In-car computers, Headphones and
earphones.
What are the main exclusions?
Is there an age restriction on the items I can insure?
The item must be less than 36 months old from the date it was purchased as new.
If the insured item is a laptop, it must be under 12 months old when the policy
is started.
Is there an excess fee?
Yes. There is an excess fee for all successful claims which must be paid before
your claim can be approved. If you purchased your policy after 03/05/2011 and your
policy is for a laptop, there is a £75 excess fee for each claim. If your
claim is for a Smartphone, iPad or iPhone the excess fee is £50 for any claim.
For all other items, there is an excess fee of £25.
Any loss claims will incur a further £25 excess fee. Any international claims
are subject to a £75 excess fee.

Do I need to supply a receipt?
In the event of a claim you will need to provide receipts for all items you are
claiming for. The receipt must be in the same family name.

Am I covered if I bought my electronic item from an auction site?
Yes, as long as you can prove that the item was purchased as new from a VAT registered retail
shop and not a sole trader. You would need to provide a proof of purchase that shows
that the item was bought as new and not previously used if you were to make
a claim.
How soon will I receive all my policy documents after purchasing a policy with you?
We'll email your policy number and links to your policy documents immediately
after purchase. We will also send you these documents by post – please allow
up to 5 days.

What is the claims procedure?
In the event of a claim you must:
- Report the theft / loss to the police within 24 hours of discover
- the theft / loss of a mobile phone / PDA to your Service Provider immediately, but
in any case within 12 hours of discovery
- If your claim relates to a faulty item, the faulty item must be provided
- Contact us within 48 hours of discovery of any claim
Failure to comply with the above may result in your claim being delayed or rejected.
Once the claim has been approved we aim to replace items within 2 working days.
If the item is being repaired we aim to return this to you within 5 working days.
If you pay for your annual gadget insurance policy in monthly instalments we will
collect the remaining annual premium at the same time as the excess is collected.
Can I make a claim straight away?
No, you are not able to make a claim for the first 14 days of the insurance policy.
How can I cancel the insurance?
Cancellations must be in writing. We do require one month notice. You can e-mail
customerservices@protectyourbubble.com
quoting your policy reference.
Please be aware that we charge an administration fee of £10. If you selected
to pay annually a pro rata refund will be give – see Terms and Conditions
for full details.
If I have a complaint, what should I do?
Who is the policy Underwritten by?
Gadget insurance is arranged by Protect your bubble, underwritten by Assurant General
Insurance Limited, and administered on their behalf by Assurant Services Ireland
Limited. Assurant General Insurance Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial
Services Authority.
How can I pay for my policy?
You can pay by Debit/Credit Card or Mastercard in one go for your annual policy
or spread the cost into 11 monthly direct debit payments at no extra cost. If you
chose the direct debit option, you can chose to have your monthly premium
taken on the 2nd, 24th or 25th of the month. Whichever one suits you best. Please
note that due to processing and set up times for direct debit, your first installment
might no be taken for several weeks. Therefore we'll take 2 months worth of
premium for your first payment, followed by 9 monthly installment. 12th month is
free as part of our one month FREE offer on al lgadget insurance policies.
I cannot find the answer to my question. What next?
What is TagBak?
TagBak is a confidential reward and return service. All you need to do is stick
the unique TagBak tag to your insured gadget and then activate the tag online.
It is very important to activate the tag for the service to work. Then if you lose
your phone, mp3 player or other gadget, and someone finds it there’s an easy,
effective way of getting it back to you.
